Homemade Dog Treats

These SIMPLE, EASY, and ADORABLE dog treats are a winner. Made with only 4 ingredients, these treats will make your dogs day, without all the added fillers and ingredients in normal dog treats. Use them for a cute and fun Christmas gift for your pup, or bake them all year long with different cookie cutters! These are truly so healthy and fun for your dog!

How it’s Made

Simply whip up a very simple dough by combining all of the ingredients together in a stand mixer. Then, like normal cookie dough, you’ll roll it out and cut through it with cookie cutters. These cookie cutters can be dog bone shaped, gingerbread men, or even little hearts! I love these dog biscuits because you can get so creative with it. They are also fabulous to make with kids for your special pup!

Homemade Dog Treats

Time: 40 minutes | Serves: 10-12 Dog Treats

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup pumpkin puree

  • 1/8 cup peanut butter

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat; set aside.(I love USA Pans)

  2. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat pumpkin puree, peanut butter and eggs on medium-high until well combined, about 1-2 minutes. Gradually add 1 1/2 cups flour at low speed, beating just until incorporated. (You may need to add an additional small spoonful of pumpkin puree if the dough is too stiff. The dough should feel similar to sugar cookie dough and be easily pliable.)

  3. Working on a lightly floured surface, knead the dough 3-4 times until it comes together. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Using cookie cutters, cut out desired shapes and place onto the prepared baking sheet.

  4. Place into oven and bake until the edges are golden brown, about 20-25 minutes. Turn the oven to 300 degrees F and let cook for another 10 minutes. Then turn off the oven and let the treats sit in the oven until completely hard to the touch. This will prevent the treats from molding!

  5. Let cool completely, give to your dog, or wrap as little dog treats for neighborhood dogs!

Note: Store leftover treats in an airtight container.
